This popular section in various formats has been part of the 8A RAIL website for many years. Like its predecessors, it is a guide of known mainly daylight freight workings in Merseyside and North Cheshire. For ease of convenience, it has been broken down into sections covering eight locations, Edge Lane Junction, Earlestown, Ditton East Junction, Runcorn, Helsby, Plumley, Rainford/St Helens Central and Fiddlers Ferry, which are within in the area covered by 8A RAIL . Trains listed will be between the hours of 06.00hrs and 22.00hrs only, as very few people observe trains outside those times. New for 2022, is the inclusion of Huyton (Station) with 24 hour coverage and it includes the known TPEx Class 68 workings too. Amendments / alterations will only be updated as and when new information becomes available. Please scroll down for each location - updated at regular intervals.
Please note, this is a guide only and trains are not guaranteed to operate on days or route stated and also subject to alteration or cancellation on the day, and therefore 8A RAIL cannot be held responsible for the information supplied as it is provided in good faith. However, if you have got updated information whether from observations or contacts, please contact 8A RAIL as soon as possible.
If you are looking for information of freight services within & beyond the 8A RAIL boundaries, it is recommended to check out numerous iGroup Gen groups covering most aspects of our railway hobby. There is also the 'Freightmaster' guide books and online tables. For further info:- www.freightmaster.net and probably the most useful application on the internet, ‘Realtime Trains’, which provides live information of all trains operating on the UK rail system including freight trains although no head codes are provided at the bequest of the FOC’s (GBRf excepted).
