This is a book featuring 175 images of steam and diesel trains in the beautiful Dee Valley, North Wales and is intended to give an overview of the Llangollen Railway between years 1985 to 2003. This was the period when the railway began to expand from the confines of Llangollen Station, going west to Carrog Station, a distance of 8 miles including the reopening of the stations at Berwyn, Deeside, Glyndyfrdwy and Carrog. Some would suggest, they were the best years of this expanding railway before the onset of tougher H&S legistration, expanding vegetation and more limited access to numerous locations on this beautiful line.
The images chosen have come the author's extensive collection, many never been published before, with some unique and changing views of motive power, locations and also the people who worked at the railway too.
Various motive power are featured including all the visiting ex BR steam locomotives such as No 60103, 'Flying Scotsman', No 60009 'Union of South Africa', No 34027, 'Taw Valley', No 5080 'Defiant', No 45593 'Kolpahur', No 92203 'Black Prince, No 75069 'Green Knight' and numerous others, as well as featuring the railway's resident locomotives in No 7822 'Foxcote Manor', No 47298, No 76079, and No 7754. ex BR Diesel locomotives are not forgotten either with a short section covering their appearances too.
